![]() Master Computer Systems, Inc. (MCS) is an authorized service provider for CTB/McGraw-Hill. It provides ancillary enhancement programs for TestMate, which allow the TestMate CRT module to scan, score and report any instrument not available with the off-the-shelf TestMate CRT module. Instruments with norms, cut scores, holistically scored items, and combined objective and holistically scored items can be processed with TestMate in the usual manner. Please see the sections New York State PEP/PET programs, New Jersey HSPT and EWT programs, and Connecticut PRECMT for detailed
information on programs that scan, score, and report on these mandated
state assessment programs.
Many school districts use BARCODES and PRESLUGGED answer sheets to improve demographic information accuracy and eliminate the "cleaning up" process associated with test scanning. Student demographic information from an existing database or student management system is loaded into TestMate. The Pre-slugging program reads the demographic information from the Testmate database, and pre-slugs (fills in the bubbles) and prints human readable information on the answer sheet. Slip-sheets are used for booklets. The Barcode program prints a label (standard plain Avery labels – 30
per sheet) with a student number, barcode, and human readable name, number,
school, and teacher. Barcode labels are used on answer sheets and
booklets. It takes the same time to print 30 barcode labels as to
print one pre-slugged page. Barcode labels can be placed over existing
ones, so those answer documents previously labeled but not used can be
reused. Barricading requires a barcode reader on the scanner, and
most existing NCS scanners can be fitted with a barcode reader. Call

The Degrees of Reading Power (DRP) tests, published by TASA, are used
to measure reading ability using cloze format. MCS ancillary
software allows TestMate to scan, score, and report on all levels and forms
of the DRP, Advanced DRP, and Degrees of Word Meaning (DWM). Users
may choose any or all levels of comprehension to report.
